What is the Innovative Student Internship Program (ISIP)?
ISIP is a 10-week summer internship program for undergraduate students and is designed to foster research, development, testing, and application of technologies at one of the nation’s premier chemical and biological defense laboratories.
Students will conduct science and engineering research in areas of interest to CCDC Chemical Biological Center in onsite laboratories. The goal of ISIP is to provide students who have limited engineering and applied research experience an opportunity to participate in integrated science, technology and engineering solutions along with an assigned CCDC Chemical Biological Center mentor. Students will present their findings during the last week of their appointment to senior leaders at the Center.
CCDC Chemical Biological Center offers internship opportunities for undergraduate minority students who are enrolled full-time at a College or University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the following:
- Environmental Science
- Physical Science
To be eligible, students must have completed class requirements for their sophomore year prior to the beginning of an appointment, have a cumulative semester/quarter GPA of 2.5 (based on a 4.0 scale) in all completed undergraduate courses in their major field of study, U.S. citizenship, ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance AND plan to reside within a commutable distance to APG, MD for the duration of the internship. Relocation expenses are not authorized.
Program participants will be selected based upon academic records, recommendations, engineering and applied research interests and compatibility of background with applied research programs and projects at CCDC Chemical Biological Center and/or the host installation. The initial appointment is full-time for 10 weeks during the summer with the ability to be converted to a permanent position upon graduation. Participants must be present for the presentation to senior leadership.
